New York

In late February 2024, Westlake TEC embarked on an unforgettable trip to Litiz, PA and New York City! Our journey began in Lititz, PA, where we toured Clair Global, Rock Lititz, and Tait Towers, discovering the cutting-edge technology behind live events and stage productions. A short trip to New York City allowed us to experience some of the most iconic locations and performances the city has to offer.

During our time in Lititz, we had the privilege of touring three industry giants: Clair Global, Rock Lititz, and Tait Towers. Clair Global, a leader in audio technology for concerts worldwide, gave us insight into how their systems power some of the biggest performances on the planet. At Rock Lititz, we saw where top musicians come to rehearse, offering a glimpse into the intricate planning that goes into live shows. Tait Towers, known for creating some of the most elaborate and innovative stage designs, shared their expertise in crafting unforgettable experiences for audiences around the globe. These behind-the-scenes tours gave us a new appreciation for the artistry and precision behind the entertainment industry.

Radio City Music Hall

Upon arriving in New York City, one of the highlights was our tour of the iconic Radio City Music Hall, known as the "Showplace of the Nation." During the tour, we marveled at the grandeur of its towering ceilings and explored its famous stage—one of the largest in the world. We had the rare opportunity to stand on the stage and explore the backstage area, gaining insight into how productions come to life. The backstage tour showcased the sophisticated technology and craftsmanship—some over a century old—that make every performance here extraordinary. We also learned about the legendary Rockettes and their precision dance routines, a cherished holiday tradition.

View of New York City from the One World Observatory

No trip to New York City would be complete without experiencing its famous sights. Over the course of our visit, we explored some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. We visited the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island along with the Freedom Tower, where the One World Observatory offered breathtaking views of the city skyline. The 9/11 Museum provided a poignant reminder of the city’s resilience and history.

In addition to sightseeing, we immersed ourselves in New York's vibrant live entertainment culture with four Broadway performances. We were thrilled by Wicked, dazzled by the magic of Aladdin, moved by the powerful storytelling in Hamilton, and captivated by the wizarding world of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Each performance offered something unique, from impressive set designs to unforgettable musical numbers. These experiences provided us with invaluable insight into the artistry, technology, and stagecraft that bring Broadway productions to life.
